Day 2
San José – Turrialba Volcano
Our Viatur Representative will deliver your rental car and a short briefing for the tour. You will receive your hotel vouchers, a road map and the list of suggested activities. You are ready to hit the road!
First stop: Turrialba Volcano.
On the way there is a variety of attractions to be seen.
Irazu Volcano, with its landscape that most resembles the moon, may be seen from the crater’s edge, offering a spectacular view on the green acidic lake below. Lankester Gardens are an absolute must for botanists and plant lovers. It is a botanical garden, offering an overview of all endemic plant and tree species in Costa Rica. Orosí Valley, with its beautiful colonial Franciscan church, makes another great visit. You may also want to see the Ujarrás Valley and Ruins of the oldest church in Costa Rica, built in 1693, a beautiful cultural heritage in the mountains.
Once at Turrialba Volcano, you might want to hike the trails.
Your overnight will be at Guayabo Lodge.

Day 3
Turrialba Volcano – Puerto Viejo de Limón
Today you will continue to the Caribbean.
On the way you can visit and learn about the banana plantations found in this area.
Puerto Viejo de Limón is known for its relaxed atmosphere and friendly people. Nearby you can find all sorts of attractions, such as a Snake Farm, which is worth a visit, or explore Limón City, the capital of this province. Limón has the most important sea port of the country and is an important centre of agricultural activities.
You will overnight at Hotel Suerre Caribe.

Day 4
Puerto Viejo de Limón
As the attractions seem endless, we stay another day and night in Puerto Viejo. Definitely worth visiting are national parks Cahuita and Gandoca-Manzanillo, but also a visit to the Bri-Bri or Bratsi indigenous community may not lack on your list of things-to-do.
Of course, there is plenty of beaches for you to spend a relaxing day.
Once more overnight at Suerre Caribe.

Day 5
Puerto Viejo de Limón – Muelle de San Carlos
You say goodbye to the Caribbean to continue your journey to the mountains. Muelle de San Carlos offers a great variety of activities. Already on the way to it there is much to see and much to do, such as La Selva Biological Station or a visit to Poás Volcano, whose crater you can admire from the edge. Doka Coffee Estate with the only still-working coffee mill is also a visit that shouldn’t be missed.
You will spend the night at Hotel Tilajari.

Day 6
Muelle de San Carlos
Today you can explore the wildlife of this area in an early boat tour on Caño Negro. After this you may want to visit the town of Fortuna, before heading to Tabacón Hot Springs. These Thermal Hot Springs are being naturally heated by the Arenal volcano’s activity. They offer various treatments and massages. Here you may enjoy dinner with an amazing night view on the still active volcano. With any luck you might see the lava flows coming down from the crater.
Once more you will overnight at Hotel Tilajari.
